• Don't mark it as ready until you're sure it's ready.

• Explain what the problem is and how/why your changes fix it.

• Make sure you write tests for your changes if necessary and appropriately update the package files if needed.

• Make sure your changes are flexible, efficient, and work on all platforms.

• Try to explain as much as possible and if somebody doesn't understand, don't get mad or insult them.
