This cop checks for code that can be written with simpler conditionals using Object#present? defined by Active Support.

Interaction with Style/UnlessElse: The configuration of NotBlank will not produce an offense in the context of unless else if Style/UnlessElse is inabled. This is to prevent interference between the auto-correction of the two cops.

Example: NotNilAndNotEmpty: true (default)

# Converts usages of `!nil? && !empty?` to `present?`

# bad
!foo.nil? && !foo.empty?

# bad
foo != nil && !foo.empty?

# good
foo.present?

Example: NotBlank: true (default)

# Converts usages of `!blank?` to `present?`

# bad
!foo.blank?

# bad
not foo.blank?

# good
foo.present?

Example: UnlessBlank: true (default)

# Converts usages of `unless blank?` to `if present?`

something unless foo.blank?

# good
something if foo.present?

Checks for simple usages of parallel assignment. This will only complain when the number of variables being assigned matched the number of assigning variables.

a = 1
b = 2
c = 3

Checks if uses of quotes match the configured preference.

Example: EnforcedStyle: single_quotes (default)

Example: EnforcedStyle: double_quotes

This cop is designed to help upgrade to after Ruby 3.0. It will add the comment # frozen_string_literal: true to the top of files to enable frozen string literals. Frozen string literals may be default after Ruby 3.0. The comment will be added below a shebang and encoding comment. The frozen string literal comment is only valid in Ruby 2.3+.

Example: EnforcedStyle: always (default)

# The `always` style will always add the frozen string literal comment
# to a file, regardless of the Ruby version or if `freeze` or `<<` are
# called on a string literal.

  # ...

This cop checks for shadowed arguments.

This cop has IgnoreImplicitReferences configuration option. It means argument shadowing is used in order to pass parameters to zero arity super when IgnoreImplicitReferences is true.

Example:

  foo = 42
  puts foo

  foo = foo + 42
  puts foo
