Space missing to the left of {.
Open

    hash = value.inject({}){|memo,(k,v)| memo[k.to_sym] = Hash.transform_keys_to_symbols(v); memo}
Severity: Minor
Found in lib/cloud_party.rb by rubocop

Checks that block braces have or don't have a space before the opening brace depending on configuration.

Example:

# bad
foo.map{ |a|
  a.bar.to_s
}

# good
foo.map { |a|
  a.bar.to_s
}

Use each_with_object instead of inject.
Open

    hash = value.inject({}){|memo,(k,v)| memo[k.to_sym] = Hash.transform_keys_to_symbols(v); memo}
Severity: Minor
Found in lib/cloud_party.rb by rubocop

This cop looks for inject / reduce calls where the passed in object is returned at the end and so could be replaced by eachwithobject without the need to return the object at the end.

However, we can't replace with eachwithobject if the accumulator parameter is assigned to within the block.

Example:

# bad
[1, 2].inject({}) { |a, e| a[e] = e; a }

# good
[1, 2].each_with_object({}) { |e, a| a[e] = e }

Use ! instead of not.
Open

    return value if not value.is_a?(Hash)
Severity: Minor
Found in lib/cloud_party.rb by rubocop

This cop checks for uses of the keyword not instead of !.

Example:

# bad - parentheses are required because of op precedence
x = (not something)

# good
x = !something

Use a guard clause instead of wrapping the code inside a conditional expression.
Open

        if endpoint =~ /^\/zones\/:id\/dns_records\/import\/?$/

Use a guard clause instead of wrapping the code inside a conditional expression

Example:

# bad
def test
  if something
    work
  end
end

# good
def test
  return unless something
  work
end

# also good
def test
  work if something
end

# bad
if something
  raise 'exception'
else
  ok
end

# good
raise 'exception' if something
ok

Use empty lines between method definitions.
Open

      def inspect
Severity: Minor
Found in lib/cloud_party/responses/zones.rb by rubocop

This cop checks whether method definitions are separated by one empty line.

NumberOfEmptyLines can be and integer (e.g. 1 by default) or an array (e.g. [1, 2]) to specificy a minimum and a maximum of empty lines.

AllowAdjacentOneLineDefs can be used to configure is adjacent one line methods definitions are an offense

Example:

# bad
def a
end
def b
end

Example:

# good
def a
end

def b
end

Use %r around regular expression.
Open

        if endpoint =~ /^\/zones\/?$/
Severity: Minor
Found in lib/cloud_party/responses/zones.rb by rubocop

This cop enforces using // or %r around regular expressions.

Example: EnforcedStyle: slashes (default)

# bad
snake_case = %r{^[\dA-Z_]+$}

# bad
regex = %r{
  foo
  (bar)
  (baz)
}x

# good
snake_case = /^[\dA-Z_]+$/

# good
regex = /
  foo
  (bar)
  (baz)
/x

Example: EnforcedStyle: percent_r

# bad
snake_case = /^[\dA-Z_]+$/

# bad
regex = /
  foo
  (bar)
  (baz)
/x

# good
snake_case = %r{^[\dA-Z_]+$}

# good
regex = %r{
  foo
  (bar)
  (baz)
}x

Example: EnforcedStyle: mixed

# bad
snake_case = %r{^[\dA-Z_]+$}

# bad
regex = /
  foo
  (bar)
  (baz)
/x

# good
snake_case = /^[\dA-Z_]+$/

# good
regex = %r{
  foo
  (bar)
  (baz)
}x

Example: AllowInnerSlashes: false (default)

# If `false`, the cop will always recommend using `%r` if one or more
# slashes are found in the regexp string.

# bad
x =~ /home\//

# good
x =~ %r{home/}

Example: AllowInnerSlashes: true

# good
x =~ /home\//

Do not use parentheses for method calls with no arguments.
Open

                            raise CloudParty::Errors::ResultError.new()

This cop checks for unwanted parentheses in parameterless method calls.

Example:

# bad
object.some_method()

# good
object.some_method

Redundant use of Object#to_s in interpolation.
Open

          outputs << "#{m.to_s}=#{send(m)}"

This cop checks for string conversion in string interpolation, which is redundant.

Example:

# bad

"result is #{something.to_s}"

Example:

# good

"result is #{something}"

Useless assignment to variable - start_time.
Open

        start_time   = DateTime.iso8601(hsh.dig(:start_time))

This cop checks for every useless assignment to local variable in every scope. The basic idea for this cop was from the warning of ruby -cw:

assigned but unused variable - foo

Currently this cop has advanced logic that detects unreferenced reassignments and properly handles varied cases such as branch, loop, rescue, ensure, etc.

Example:

# bad

def some_method
  some_var = 1
  do_something
end

Example:

# good

def some_method
  some_var = 1
  do_something(some_var)
end

Useless assignment to variable - end_time.
Open

        end_time     = DateTime.iso8601(hsh.dig(:end_time))

Checks that block braces have or don't have surrounding space inside them on configuration. For blocks taking parameters, it checks that the left brace has or doesn't have trailing space depending on configuration.

Example: EnforcedStyle: space (default)

# The `space` style enforces that block braces have
# surrounding space.

# bad
some_array.each {puts e}

# good
some_array.each { puts e }

Example: EnforcedStyle: no_space

# The `no_space` style enforces that block braces don't
# have surrounding space.

# bad
some_array.each { puts e }

# good
some_array.each {puts e}

Example: EnforcedStyleForEmptyBraces: no_space (default)

# The `no_space` EnforcedStyleForEmptyBraces style enforces that
# block braces don't have a space in between when empty.

# bad
some_array.each {   }
some_array.each {  }
some_array.each { }

# good
some_array.each {}

Example: EnforcedStyleForEmptyBraces: space

# The `space` EnforcedStyleForEmptyBraces style enforces that
# block braces have at least a spece in between when empty.

# bad
some_array.each {}

# good
some_array.each { }
some_array.each {  }
some_array.each {   }

Example: SpaceBeforeBlockParameters: true (default)

# The SpaceBeforeBlockParameters style set to `true` enforces that
# there is a space between `{` and `|`. Overrides `EnforcedStyle`
# if there is a conflict.

# bad
[1, 2, 3].each {|n| n * 2 }

# good
[1, 2, 3].each { |n| n * 2 }

Example: SpaceBeforeBlockParameters: true

# The SpaceBeforeBlockParameters style set to `false` enforces that
# there is no space between `{` and `|`. Overrides `EnforcedStyle`
# if there is a conflict.

# bad
[1, 2, 3].each { |n| n * 2 }

# good
[1, 2, 3].each {|n| n * 2 }
