Dry sclerophyll forests are adapted to these dryer conditions and to high fire frequencies. They usually have a multi-levelled overstorey of eucalypts of different ages, relating to fires that occur once every 5 to 25 years in low rainfall areas, and a sparse understorey of small trees, hard-leaved shrubs and bracken fern or grasses. Trees are slower to grow in dryer conditions, and the overstorey of mature dry sclerophyll forests often does not reach more than 30 metres in height.",

"description": "The Red-browed Pardalote (Pardalotus rubricatus) occupies the northern two-thirds of Australia. It is a fraction larger than the Forty-spotted Pardalote, at 10 to 12 cm, and is the least conspicuously coloured, being paler and combining the spotted skull-cap of the Spotted Pardalote with the striped wings of the Striated Pardalote. It is rare in the eastern part of its range but common in the northwest, where it prefers dry woodlands, mulga, and the trees along creek beds. The red-browed pardalote builds its nest underground at the end of a tunnel.",

The female has glossed brown upperparts, heavily spotted with white, and a black crown. The underparts are generally buff-cream with numerous fine black bars. The Common Koel is a member of the cuckoo family. Adults are rather shy and they are heard much more than seen. In contrast to the adults, fledglings can be very conspicuous as they beg loudly for food from their foster parents.",
