Here's the scoop,

First, Image Groups aren't required. A product without an image group can just `has_many :images` and thus all its variants would likewise use those same images.

If however, you want a variant to have different images than its Product follow these steps:

Create an image Group and associate it to the product that has variants you want specific images for.

Make sure you named the above well. Example "Red Shoes" or "Green Shoes"

Now edit the "Red Shoes" image group. (basically associate images to the group)

Now go edit your product's variants. For every variant that has "Red Shoes" associate the image group you just created to the variant.

That should be it. But you will probably want to change your storefront to reflect this change. Current the images will change but not everyplace you might want it.

Have Fun.
