Missing top-level class documentation comment.
Open

    class Client

This cop checks for missing top-level documentation of classes and modules. Classes with no body are exempt from the check and so are namespace modules - modules that have nothing in their bodies except classes, other modules, or constant definitions.

The documentation requirement is annulled if the class or module has a "#:nodoc:" comment next to it. Likewise, "#:nodoc: all" does the same for all its children.

Example:

# bad
class Person
  # ...
end

# good
# Description/Explanation of Person class
class Person
  # ...
end

Example: EnforcedStyle: emptylinesexcept_namespace

# good

  class Bar

Unused method argument - args. If it's necessary, use _ or _args as an argument name to indicate that it won't be used. You can also write as initialize(*) if you want the method to accept any arguments but don't care about them.
Open

      def initialize(*args)

This cop checks for unused method arguments.

Example:

# bad

def some_method(used, unused, _unused_but_allowed)
  puts used
end

Example:

# good

def some_method(used, _unused, _unused_but_allowed)
  puts used

Open

          info "Listener not active for channel '#{listener_config["args"]["channel"]}' on database '#{listener_config["args"]["dbname"]}'..."

This cop checks that quotes inside the string interpolation match the configured preference.

Example: EnforcedStyle: single_quotes (default)

# bad
result = "Tests #{success ? "PASS" : "FAIL"}"

# good
result = "Tests #{success ? 'PASS' : 'FAIL'}"

Example: EnforcedStyle: double_quotes

Use yield instead of block.call.
Open

          block.call(*[
                         notification[:relname], # channel
                         notification[:be_pid], # pid
                         notification[:extra] # payload
                     ])

This cop identifies the use of a &block parameter and block.call where yield would do just as well.

Example:

# bad
def method(&block)
  block.call
end
def another(&func)
  func.call 1, 2, 3
end

# good
def method
  yield
end
def another
  yield 1, 2, 3

Open

      @yaml_config = yaml_hash || YAML::load(ERB.new(File.read(path_to_yaml)).result)

This cop checks for methods invoked via the :: operator instead of the . operator (like FileUtils::rmdir instead of FileUtils.rmdir).

Example:

# bad
Timeout::timeout(500) { do_something }
FileUtils::rmdir(dir)
Marshal::dump(obj)
